Current Cholesterol Recommendations
National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) currently accepted guidelines
Total Cholesterol: 200 mg/dl
High Density Lipoprotein (HDL): > or = 40 mg/dl
"H"DL = "H"elpful
Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL): < 100 (most recent < 70) mg/dl
IF High Cardiovascular Risk Factors Exist (Diabetes, Hypertension, Smoking, HDL < 40 mg/dl, Advanced age - > 45 men / > 55 women - but this is being evaluated as of late for addendum, family history of early heart disease)
