Joint Support
D_
What is the best regimen for joint support? My knees have been killing me the last couple of months after shooting basketball. I had a knee injury in high school but they just seem to get worse.

I've heard bulk cissus is supposed to be a good supplement.

cissus if it is a ligament/tendon issue, glocosamine/chondroitin/msm for a cartilage issue, try playing ball after your workout not before & dont play on leg day, ice that knee down after every leg workout & after playing ball-this will help reduce any inflamation and reduce pain. if its bad from leg training try pre-exhausting those quads/hams and using a little less weight and a little more reps.
try on your next leg day: leg curl 4x12, hip abd/add 4x12, leg ext 3x20, leg press 4x20. this should help retain any size you have gained while not putting as much stress on the knees. if it still hurts then cut out leg exts.

For cartilage, does one need to use all three of the supplements you recommended, or is only one of them needed?

It is best to use all three but I use cissus only and have had good results.

My best recommendation in joint support right now would be:
[1] VPX Glucosacream
[2] Celadrin
[3] SAMe
-or- some conglomerate of the bunch.
If you recall my thread on my shoulder rehab at the MAN-UP board and stuff I have posted prior on here about joints, there is a more illustrious campaign.
I personally don't care for cissus unless we are talking about a fracture (estrogen is very positive for bone growth - this is why things like raloxifene - a SERM which boasts pro-estrogenic/anti-estrogenic acitivity is used for osteoporosis, or why post-menopausal females, now without estrogen, get on HRT to prevent fractures).
Far too many jumped the gun on this phytoestrogen IMO.

You may be an ideal candidate to review all of my shoulder rehab joint stuff on the MAN-UP forum:
http://www.manupdb.com/viewtopic.php?t=1068
A complete supplemental protocol (that spares NO expense) is all in there.

doc, i was just gonna ask you for a recomendation on cissus dosaging. 1-2 g's per day? would you also recomend buying a bulk powder instead of a pre-package product?
