Default Brand pharmas vs. generic pharmas

Hey Doc, in terms of quality, is there a difference in generic brand pharmaceuticals in comparison with brand name pharmaceuticals?

For example, AstraZeneca was the pharmaceutical company that created Tamoxifen. Now, would a generic company produce Tamoxifen of the same quality as AstraZeneca? Because the generic company's products are MUCH cheaper.

Just making certain we aren't speaking of so-called "research chemicals" here first?

Generic vs. Trade
Theoretically these should be the same, however, on more than one occasion I have heard patients swearing by the Trade name brand.

I spoke about this concept at DA once in a blue moon ago in much more depth and will look for a link when I get caught up. Missing a day here has put me somewhat behind in answering questions here for sure.

Could it just be a placebo effect cause they are taking a "brand name" ?

Correct, not talking about research chemicals, but about Tamoxifen in capsule form produced either by AstraZeneca or a generic company.

Looking forward to the link, thanks!
