Default Help with chest injury

Ok here it goes... On Sunday March 16 I was doing triceps. I started with close grip bench like I always do. I believe I was doing 225... Nothing out of the ordinary. After a few reps I noticed some discomfort in my left pec. Preceded with triceps and nothing hurt to bad. I usually would have done chest Monday but i didnt want to hurt it even more so I took Monday and Tuesday off and did back on WED. Well today I did chest... started with BB incline and starting hurting when I got around 225 and 255. The more weight the more it starting hurting. I had good sets just with pain. I did flat bench flys and really didnt feel too bad but i think i was babying my chest and not going as wide as a usually do. Tried to do decline and it just wasn't right. I dont want to really hurt myself. As for the pain when i lift my arm above my head it feels like my pec is being stretched. When i push on it the pain is fairly intense. Nothing around the nipple area but about 3 inches up from the nipple is where it is tender. after working out I have been applying muscle cream. The pain feels like stretching and like my pec is tight. Should i cut out chest for awhile and just to BI, tri, back and shoulders or cut out lifting. Also any supplements or anything I should be doing. Thanks guys I have never had this problem before nor had any injuries to keep me out of lifting. if you need any more information let me know and i will try and describe it....GET ME BETTER!!!!! also my pec is pretty sore right now tender to the touch!

It sounds like a strain/pull take some time off a be happy that you did not tear it.
I would still get it looked at by a doc. If u can get some celebrex get some it has
the uncanny ability to heal/repair a injured area.

Definitely avoid any chest, doesn't sound like a tear, you got lucky. Ice the shit out of it, then when the inflammation is down, you can apply heat. I'd ice it for like 2 days first though. When I say ice the shit out of it I mean ice 15 minutes on 15 minutes off. It will be well worth the trouble, believe me.

Next time, first sign of pain STOP LIFTING! don't push through the pain!!

I dont know i keep it on hand[get it w/my insurance. I was reading a powerlifting usa
about a year and half ago and the top bench pressers were talking about pec tears
and what they used or tried if they had a imp meet coming up. 3 of the top bp guys
said they used celebrex[ron coleman also uses] and in addition to be a anti=inflamm
it actually healed the area. I got a quad tear and my doc presc me motrin and i told
him i needed celebrex and it healed the area within 2 weeks[it was crazy.
I have had hamstring and calf pulls since and celebrex has healed those also.My
doc cannot explain the mechanism behind the healing but even he believes it works
in that area also. I am actually going to pick up a bottle in the morning. Hope that
helps you.

I would completely avoid lifting weights for at least a week, maybe longer.

I am telling you after i read that atricle i was amazed that they did not require
surgery[unknown what grade of tear]. With me running hills w weight jackets
and parachutes and doing plyometrics[as well as multiple basketball leagues]
i have seen my share of injuries and celebrex has come to the rescue every
time.
