i'll do cable curls with my arms drawn back with lighter weight to get warmed up, the a medium weight, then a heavy weight. Then i'll decide I want to punish my bis, so i'll do a drop set. Start with the heavy weight, do as many as I can, then drop the weight down and do as many curls as I can..and finally drop the weight again and curl.

Doesn't have to be performed like I said, just giving an example of what I do to get a burn and crush the muscle.

I do these with Tricep pulldowns as the last lift on my chest/tri day. Start with a higher weight on the stack and go till failure then work my way down the whole stack moving the weight down 20 lbs every time. It really burns my triceps at the end of the lift.

Any set where you hit failure with a certain weight, and then immediately lower the weight by about 20-30% to once again hit failure with that weight, etc...is a drop set.

You are "dropping" the weight and performing another set immediately.

Great way to extend an exercise. I throw them in a lot on arms and back days, but they can be used anywhere. Ill usually do them on the final set of the exercise, but sometimes Ill do drops all 4 sets. Now thats a killer!
