tried this new way of S.L. Deads awhile back by accident, but they worked better than regular S.L. for me. use a shrug machince that you sit on and lower the seat all the way down. dont sit on it just back up to the backrest like you were going to sit down and grab the lowest grip. it kinda faces down at an angle. keep your legs strait and raise up with your back. this worked my back and legs more than stiff leg ever has. it really killed my back. just thought i would throw it out there as a variation. i have heard of people doing regular deads facing the back but never s.l. with their back to the machine.

He is referring to Stiff Legged Dead Lift. I am understanding how you are doing them I just cant picture getting the full benefits(calves, quads, glutes, traps, etc) as regular SLDL. Have you tried doing them on a box( i like a 5-6 inch rise) so you get more extension on the downward motion? That might help stretch out the motion a little more for you, just make sure you are keeping your back tight and wear a belt if you go below your feet.

Yeah i dont use them very much. I really used it out of necessity cuz all the bars were being used. I was really just throwing it out there as an option if you wanted to add a little variation to your routine.
