Good point and one that is often overlooked. I've heard that Kevin Levrone took anywhere up to 6 months off with no training after a competition to let his body recover. I think he is an extreme though as I have seen interviews with Yates, who said that the week after the Olympia he was back in the gym training and dieting. So like said before, it's all about listening to your body.
