Do they go for reps, weight, or what exactly they do? This is a very general question so any info would be nice.

haha yes true but as far as what do they hold as a priority? High reps, high weight, both and do they do one muscle group/day or two?

they train for hypertrophy.

this is what they do: Through the years of training they discover their own body, find out what exercises work for THEM and find out what rep range/training style works for them as well -- then they do precisely that.

This is what i'm doing - i've NEVER followed anyone elses training program, have always made up my own.

agreed... and to further that, like gix said, it's what works for them, but that may change in 6 months?? a year?? heavy weight may be working now, but then the body adapts and needs a change. so you might take a volume approach for a while until the body adapts.....then you change it up again. And that might mean going back to a low volume, heavy approach. I think Gix nailed it. It's what works for you, and not what Men's Health says is "it"

For me it depends on the time of year, my goals (bulking, cutting, size, density).
Out side of that it is best to feel and focus on each rep, keeping your body guessing by not only changing lift order and types, but hand and foot placement as well.

Tip for the new guys: Muscle is not built in the gym it is torn down. Muscle is built from a good diet and sleep. Bodybuilding doesn't stop when you leave the gym, thats when it begins.

Don't do the same thing for too long (training periods). And, within each training period, be better than you were last time... either more reps, more weight, more intensity, whatever. MORE MORE MORE!

I'd like to reiterate the fact that knowing one's body is invaluable; i.e. what you can handle, when you should rest, what exersizes work best for your goals. These are hard things to figure out becuase they are so unique from person to person, and only the individual can reach the point to where the know what is best for them and how to go about it.
