It is not hard to beat a free gym if it limits your options. That other gym sounds sweet. Or use your beer money and join somewhere else. The atmosphere and the people who train there will make a huge improvement in your training.
If you cannot do any form of DL, then I would do good mornings to hit the lower back/hams similar way to deads.
