I am looking to get into better shape and I just want to know what kind of diet would help with weight loss but also would allow for muscle gains through lifting. So basically I am looking to really target endurance and abs with a little upper and lower body work. I have read and heard from a few people that having stronger abs makes your body more explosive for other lifts and in sports. So I guess I have two questions. What is the best diet for getting rid of unwanted #s and what would be a good workout for my two main areas of focus? Also what would be good supplements to take on top of the diet?

I would take advantage of that then. I say take advantage of the gains you make from first lifting (referred to as newb gains). Just eat a lot of protein, take shakes, and bust your ass in the gym doing w/e you're comfy with to start. You should pack on a ton of weight and mass just starting off.
