i love apples. golden delicious are my favorite. i try to eat one every day. i eat them when i'm bulking or dieting. i have read about some top level bb's who consume a mixture of applesauce, creatine, glutamine, bcaa's, waximaize, etc. either during or post workout about 15 minutes before their protein shakes. i assume this would be done to spike insulin levels and drive those supps into the blood & muscle faster to aid in recovery. anyone else know anything about this?

Fructose (fruit sugar) has a preference for refilling LIVER glycogen stores rather than muscle stores.

I honestly am going out on a limb here to suggest that those that swear by it do so purely for the taste of the apple sauce in particular.

There is a high level of malic acid present which may lead to a greater propensity for workout energy (unsure and untested, but my sole hypothesis to rationale for their use).

From time to time after eating an apple I get a nice little pump. That was before my CKD/AD days.

applesauce is great stuff, easy to get down and tastes great. personally i prefer milk and more milk.
