Blood Glucose readings and timing them out
Okay, as far as digestion goes it can take a very short to an extended period of time for food to digest. I want to test my BG a few times to test with different things, i.e. food items, especially diet soda, and "zero carb" energy drinks, moreso as a pick me up and not as a constant....
along with other things like my whey protein...
How long should I wait after ingesting these (each will be on its own trial) to take my BG readings?
dinoiii, bpf, any other peeps doin the ckd or are diabetic?

Many apparently have inconsequential effect on blood glucose readings.
This is NOT to suggest that they are "calorie free" per se as labeling laws allow them to cite.
Take splenda, it still harbors a little under 2 calories per gram. But they sure could add up if taking in a boat load. Still, hard to imagine you would get a huge spike or anything considering and it hasn't panned out in the labs and glucometer readings we have seen on-site.

well, not sure if I noted this elsewhere, but I did find that I took an initial BG reading, drank a diet rite, had my omega pills (5g), and took my BG reading an hr later and it was 5pts lower. some would say "duh" but I took this as a positive, because you can't just say, well you didn't eat during that hr, you just had a drink, so what did you expect.
I expected a slight increase in my BG reading by a few pts, because of the splenda content, as I assume it takes a little bit to sweeten a 12oz can of diet rite, esp with it bein a cherry cola flavor. I know not to chug the stuff, but its still comforting to know I can toss down a can every now and again....
This diet is militant, but its not THAT hard... lemme clear this up, its hard because its precise, and you need to be ON with this, but its like an experiment, tweaking things making adjustments, then a boatload of carbs on the weekends. And for those of us who have competed have done the diets where you start @ a certain level of carbs and taper down, with that you crave carbs constantly with this, @ least you get them in some form.
The only disheartening thing about the diet is feeling like a failure by not getting into ketosis, but I will post up pics, gonna post up some ones with my face, maybe I can get a magazine ad. For the reps reading into this, I can save the pics, and not post em up, leave ppl in suspense and you can put me in an ADVERTISEMENT ....
I am gonna be usin AX prods and PAL prods for my PCT.....as an FYI

Again, not surprising...we haven't seen glucose changes with the sweeteners, but as I said...if you have too many - despite the suggestion of them being "calorie-free" - this is NOT true, so you still should watch overall intake is all.
Summary:
Blood Sugar = No effect
Calories = a little under half prototypical carb gram calorie content

well, I have found the need to incorporate some coffee in the morning to keep me alert, which I use a packet of splenda, and an occasional diet rite (it's my alcohol, lol)

Dispite the fact that the artificial sweetners do have some carbohydrates in them, I'm somewhat expecting them to cause a drop in glucose levels because of the insulin response to them. The over response is believed to be the reason they make some people hungry. I don't think it would be an issue for most people, but if you're a diabetic on meds or just on a lower carb diet I'm wondering if high doses could cause an unsafe drop in glucose levels. Anyone know?
