think about it.... you are going on 6-8hrs with no food, then you get up and do a "fat burning" (lol) aka low intensity cardio session?
I also didn't say just muscle, but a your muscles will be broken down to aid in this workout... whens the last time you didn't eat for 6-8hrs, then thought cardio was a good idea? just a question....
With future books coming out from reputable authors, you'll see that your hamster wheel approach is less than stellar, and walking for the purpose of fat loss is a waste....
Not tryin to be a dick here, but read up, seriously the info on low intensity cardio being a waste is out there. The only ppl pushing the low intensity cardio are usually in bb-ing magz, and its recommended by bb-ers, as they've been taught. Yes it works, but again, is it the best or better choice, I'd have to say NO.

Intersting points, B-nat. The logic fits as far as doing cardio in a fasted state. If I may ask, where did you get this info from? I am sure the intensity will dictate the amount carbs to take. How many carbs would you estimate would be wise to take prior to that ever exciting cardio session? We are talking about a low/moderate routine. Would a simple WMS/BCAA mix do?
Again, references appreciated. Thanks...
EDIT: I meant not doing cardio in a fasted state.

logic? which logic, mine sayin its pointless, or....
if you like fasted cardio, I would also like some links....
carbs? why carbs? why not protein? roo much of any macro for fasted cardio will hamper your desired results anyway....
If I were to do cardio, it'd be PWO or sometime mid morning after breakfast...
and is this a genuine question or are you checking my background? Kind of wanting to know if I am defending my background or defending my statements or if you gave a genuine interest

theres a good article on bb.com for this
if it gets deleted, just search for myths under the microscope
Myths Under The Microscope: The Low Intensity Fat Burning Zone & Fasted Cardio - Bodybuilding.com Forums
as far as everything else, I can support it with those that support my theory and can negate it with those that support the other side...
We can/could go into how cardio isn't really "essential" but I have ltd info on that, D obviously has more info along with his rant he has written on this, however I will stand by for a response, and will support my decision with my researchm and not name pimp for em to save me....
One main point is that with low intensity cardio vs. HIIT is the amount of fat burned in the related sessions...
the cardio session that is low intensity does burn a significant amount of cals from fat, but in shorter time, the HIIT will still trump the fat burning effects and in less time...
I can go on here, but have to stay on the short n sweet side, due to the fact that for last yrs contest I did a.m. cardio, but with 5-10g BCAA's sipped during...
Layne Norton has a good article at BB.com on his thoughts on cardio now that I think about it...

Dont be so defensive..I can understand why you would be, but chillax.(<--you like that one dont ya...I didnt event it.) I am genuinely interested. I say "logic" because you are right, who works out after a 6-8hrs of not eating thru day.

well I've posted my response, I am slowly trying to figure out the "essentials" on carbs, so I need to bite my tongue there and wait it out....
I have read sides that support a.m. cardio and those that don't, and its a matter of belief and logic applied. As far as cardio goes, as long as I can find ways to stay away from it, I will... The idea behind fat burning cardio is to tap into fat stores because of depleted glycogen stores, so I would say to steer clear of too many carbs and even too much protein before a cardio session
