Default M I L K

Alright, growing up I was chubby. My dad insisted on drinking 2% milk, then my mother with concerns of my health and how much I liked milk converted us over to Fat Free.

Since im the type of person who will drink/eat/swallow anything that taste terrible as long as I know its good for me.

Im thinking im not getting enough out of the milk being fat free and its stripping alot of the goodies?

I grew up chubby as well. I haven't touched milk in years.

What are your goals? Fat loss, weight gain?

For fat loss i would say skip it. It is very insulinogenic, so releasing tons of insulin. Not great for fat loss.

For weight gain, it may be ok for you due to the increases in IGF-1 it causes. But, that effects all tissue, muscle, fat, bone etc.

he talks about a bunch of stuff, but he mentions the increase in IGF-1 due to milk intake.

Since I'm going to be bulking soon, I'm going to have a glass of 1% milk with 3-4 meals a day to get in extra calories.

I’m pretty sure that if you compare the labels on Skim and Whole Milk, you will find that Skim Milk contains MORE Protein and MORE Carbs than the Whole, 1 or 2% milk does.

Thanks.

And, definitely, some pople can drinks tons of it and do great. I on the other hand would probably turn back into a big ol' pile if I drank that much milk. I like food, I have no problem getting calories.

Not true. One serving (8 oz.) of skim, 1%, 2%, and whole milk all contain 12g of CHO and 8g of protein. Fat content varies.
