Default Adidas Weight Lifting Shoe

Hey, anyone out there wear anything besides normal running shoes in the gym? They just do not cut it for me. I usually just go barefoot (in socks) for all my lifts.

Recently been experimenting with the olympic lifts and am considering "weight lifting shoes" once again. Adidas seems to have the best reputation state side, so I am curious as to what others use (esp SC). Not really looking for the combat boot / running shoe answer, but wanting to know specifically about shoes made for oly/power lifting.

Thanks gentlemen.

First off, great to see you here. Hope the studies and training are going well. ( I am sure they are)

All lifts need the proper shoes. Running/cross trainers will crush as the weight increases (and I know you are well past that point). Balance will be off.

Olympic lifts are technique and explosive power. (and strength obviously)

Ex: http://www.dynamic-eleiko.com/products/shoesFR.html The Ironwork II are very popular. The heal adds stability and balance to the lift and along with the arch will give you better starting position. The rubber on the bottom front will prevent sliding when you explode. Some squatter who squat narrow like the heal as it will allow them to reach proper depth easier.

Get some Chuck Taylors. I know thy are not sylish but they do make them in all black. Great for SQ because they are flat and allow you to sit back on your heal while SQing. Balance and form will be better and weights will increase. You can also use them for DL. I prefer wrestling shoes but... Either one will prevent you from leaning over or getting pulled from the shoes collapsing and allows you to drive with your heal.

I have seen some guys/girls DL barefoot or use those foot slippers which is basically barefoot. I guess it is one inch less to pull than in shoes. Don't know how you could squat though?

Well, so far I have tried a generic a chuck tailor and it was totally worthless. I was not entirely sold on spending 60+ bucks on a pretty damn flat piece of rubber with some canvass so went generic. Not working for me. Maybe the real deal would....Increased foot pain and knee discomfort over going bare foot when squatting / DL etc

Still using Echo receptor running shoes when leg pressing (damn knee) and general lifting but go bare foot (socks) for squats, DL, bent over rows etc - anything that involves pulling from the floor. No real discomfort on my feet - knee does better when squatting etc bare foot vs running shoes - crazy - must have something to do with my body mechanics....

....so still wondering if shelling out the $$$ for a pair of adidas lifting shoes would be a good investment (since they do have some arch and heal elevation) or getting real C.T.

Hmmm I wonder if I have my old wrestling shoes....I think I sent them to goodwill - they were a pair of asic's - man I liked them...
