Tamoxifen to Tamoxifen Citrate Ratio
Due to previous posts regarding research chemicals and sites for strictly research purposes, I am assuming that this post will be within the legal boundaries for LeanBulk forums, if not, the board moderator may remove at their discretion.
Purpose: To provide information and discussion on a theoretical case study regarding the use and affects of Tamoxifen vs. Tamoxifen Citrate dosage ratios in a controlled biological laboratory.
Hypothetically, when faced with testing tamoxifen affects on breast cancer cells in a lab for my BIO415 class, I placed an order for 60 - 20mg tablets from Value Pharmaceuticals online. 60 tablets would be needed to extensive testing over a four month period. In my theory, I had received the package and as stated by the company, shipping took 14 days. The package would be delivered by US postal mail service with signature required.
When I open up the box and read the directions, I would find that each tablet contains 20mg of tamoxifen(as tamoxifen citrate). Also includes mannitol. Directions state that 10mg tamoxifen = 15.2mg of tamoxifen citrate, 20mg tamoxifen = 30.4mg of tamoxifen citrate, 40mg tamoxifen = 60.8mg tamoxifen citrate.
Now in the past, my professors have made this information clear regarding the comparison in ratios for tamoxifen to tamoxifen citrate and previously I would have expected to have to compensate for the tamoxifen citrate difference. These professors have also stated that 20mg tamoxifen tablets do not exist.
But if my tamoxifen citrate already has the required compensated dosage to equal the regular tamoxifen dosage, this discrepancy would not affect my BIO415 lab projects' qualitative results regarding ingredient ratios. Any thoughts or comments?
