What supps have people had good experience with for getting ripped? Of course a good cardio program + diet goes without saying and getting as lean as possible before resorting to supplements is the way to go. But I'm at the point where I am toned but just want to get more jagged. I also posted about bulking and know the two cannot be done simultaneously (LoL) but just thought I'd throw my two goals out there.

Best,
Ali

errrr not really. Best 'supp' to get ripped and mind blowing vascularity is to get down into the single digit body fat ranges, which training and diet will do. If you are above a certain bodyfat %, you won't be very vascular at all, no matter how many NO supps you take.

What two things can't be done simultaneously? bulking and getting ripped?

Also, I would completely cut out the cardio from your routine if you are doing it, thats right, no more cardio.

No more cardio might work for people that lift very intensely. But how many people can you say lift intense enough to cut out cardio from their workout routines? Cardio is also an easy to burn some calories on days you don't lift. It's been shown time and again, over many years, that cardio helps people lose weight, in conjunction with a good diet.

I would look into Anabolic Pump for increasing vascularity and definition as it provides great pumps and makes your muscles "full". It also increases AMPk which results in more fat loss.

Yes, quite surprising isn't it? However, look into the link I provided and also consider this:

Cardiovascular activity --> stimulation of type I (endurance) muscle fibers --> increased conditioning, less hypertrophy, less mitochondria* (relational)

Resistance training --> stimulation of type II (there are multiple types but I am trying to simplify) --> increased hypertrophy, increased overall mitochondria*

The Rationale for increased cortisol in the former activity lies in mitochondrial concentration (of which is decreased in cardiovascular acitivity). Decreased Mitochondria equals Increased Fat (or less fat burning which is likely a better way to look at it). Increased Fat equals Increased Cortisol Secretion.

put aerobics head to head in studies with weight training. The results: aerobics was INDEED effective for helping guys slim down - BUT much of the weight was shown to be MUSCLE MASS - so now, they tended to include (with less mitochondrial concentrations) metabolic SLOWDOWN - depsite "weight" loss. Once they stopped the actual exercise, their bodies no longer had to provide fuel for as much musculature. Now, the 200 pounder who slimmed down to say 165 had a slower basal (resting) metabolic rate than a guy who'd been 165 pounds his entire life! Now, how could this less musculature figure keep his new 165-pound physique .... easy: eat less, problem: he'd have to eat less and less and less as more and more muscle would dissipate. Who's capable of that kind of discipline? This guy is gonna have a huge weight regain, but now with his newly-incorporated lower BMR coupled with a higher cortisol rate.

What's it mean:
The potentially musculature man is gonna be a bit more....uhhhhh, flabby.

I guess it makes sense to a degree. But then how do you explain people that combine sprinting with weight training? Look at the physiques of many NFL players. They tend to do quite a bit of high intensity cardio during practices, scrimmages, and games, while also lifting a lot of weight. They maintain their muscular mass, and they are bigger and leaner than 99% of the people on here and other fitness forums.

Some really good examples:

Andre Carter

Ray Lewis

Bill Romanowski

And there are hundreds of other DBs, DEs, TEs, RBs, and many others that prove that weight training and cardio can provide awesome physiques.

Well the bottom line the reason for all of this is personal health (for me at least) and not just looks. So not doing Cardio isn't an option. I value the fact that I can run 5 miles without flinching or train as long as I want. Losing that would be terrible.

Best,
Ali

i agree with keeping the cardio, and i'm not bashing dinoiii in any way but just because one person writes an article over it doesn't mean you have to take those words as gospel. just do what you feel works best for your body and it'll all workout in the end.
