Complexes are great at conditioning, so I guess I can see the functional aspect, but I use the term functional loosely. Tell me when some actually cleans something, presses and then squats???

Functional in my book is something that translates to one's professional or activity directly. i.e. sprints for a sprinter. So, in that regards bodybuilding for a bodybuilder would equal functional training

I dont know much about crossfit. I also just like to throw around terms like functional.

But in my mind a step up holding DB's is more functional (carrying something up stairs) then BB Squatting. I cant recall the last time I threw something on my back and repeatedly squatted up and down...

But only if the step-ups are done on some tall stairs with one DB. Unless you like stepping up then down with shit, but don't go anywhere...
