A strong posterior chain translates to a higher vertical I believe. THere is some box jump vid out there that is analyzed showing how quads really dont do shit. Its all in the hams/posterior chain.

I guess that makes sense that they get used in jumping. You probably don't bend at the knees enough to have to use that much of you quads.
But can't you just practice jumping in order to jump higher?

Yes that was the point of the box jump vids. Very little leg bend to explode into a jump.

I'm really not sure. Kelly Baggett has a whole book about increasing vertical. I'd nuthug him btw...
