You also have to take in account of how people take care of cars. When you have auto makers saying their cars are more reliable, people tend to take care of them better. Marketing is pretty powerful tool...

no i am going by my previous ownership of american vehicles to state my claim not soem marketing claim by foreign automakers....before i got my first honda accord, i owned both a chevrolet and ford....both were horrible and left me stranded on the side of the highway multiple times.....my honda never left me stranded anywhere....i bought the accord with 35K miles and sold the accord with 345K miles...that is the definition of reliability to me...
