just got back from work where I worked my ass off and did like a half hour of solid mopping and I was like drenched in sweat. so I ate 2 pure protein bars and drank a 32 oz gatorade after work. The Arnold photo op in Bigger Faster Stronger was great.

All in all, I think it was a fair discussion of steroids.
He covered the misconception of steroids being bad/unhealthy if used responsibly,
but also the immoral aspects of enhancing.

The talk about heroes is what I found most interesting. How the people you might look up to, when you're younger and naive, might not be telling you the whole story.

Arnold I would say is still a hero because he currently seems to be one of the most open and honest enhancer made famous by steroids that's willing to discuss them. Gregg Valentino is also kind of in the same boat, except he's infamous.

Bodybuilders, like Jay Cutler, who are endorsing supplements come off as less of a hero. They can't really be blamed for making a living, but because they choose (more like forced) to hide the fact of steroid use, it's probably not going to be a great role model for naive youth that don't know better. From the deleted scenes, it sounds like Jay is willing to discuss, except the public probably isn't ready for such discussion...

I think the big question is: why isn't the public ready to hear that their heroes had external means of performance enhancement?

thats easy. because for them to be heroes they need to be something special. if anyone can match him by appropriate application of endogenous hormones then he isnt a hero, he's just a drug addict. Eugene Sandow qualifies

1867-1925 - they didnt even have equipment back then, much less steroids

There's all kinds of ways to gain an advantage in something that are neither illegal nor involve drugs. Do you think people are just caught up on the illegality thing?

But wasn't one of the main reasons for the Anabolic Restriction Act because of the whole competitive sports thing? (Refer to first statement about many other ways to gain an edge besides steroids)
