New Idea For The Site-check It Out

Leanbulk and I are thinking we are going to invest in getting the site a "workout logger." It would be a smoothly operated section of our site where you could enter your lift, weight, reps, and maybe some side notes about that particular lift (ex. to failure, shitty form, etc). It would cost us some money but we are willing to get this done if you guys will utilize this. The database would be stored on our site for your privacy only, and accessible by your forum login information. I was also thinking you could make it possible to share your results with other members if u chose to do so.

Also one more thing... we would have it coded so all your information is exportable to excel for example and printable...

What do u guys think?

Hmm, sounds pretty cool actually... can we demo it first so that we can really gauge how we like the interface, etc... that way y'all don't purchase something that ends up rarely getting used?

great idea... dont know we are getting some quotes for some programmers and that is a great point to bring up!

Hey, NP, I'm in the industry, and I know how this stuff goes... I could prolly do the work for you (although I haven't done web interface stuff in a few years, so I'd have to ramp up on it [likely best to do it in AJAX - think "gmail" - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gmail] and don't have the time to dedicate) but spend my time in a very different realm these days, and have projects for work that I've gotta complete.

If this isn't a pre-canned solution (i.e. someone is going to custom develop it just for you) you're not likely to be able to get a "demo" though... but you ought to at least be able to get some type of "mock up" front end so we can get a feel for the interface, or maybe an example of similar type work, and a detailed description of exactly how the features and functionality would work...

Unfortunately, this might not allow us to test out cross-browser compatibility... i.e. I use Firefox, most prolly use IE, some may use Opera, etc... but that isn't the end of the world.

If you'd like I can sit in on the project and offer free advice... PM me if your interested and I'll shoot you my cell phone, etc... if not, no worries.

Awesome, great stuff to know! We will have to keep in touch throughout this project. We want to have it done in php and be integrated to work within vbulletin....we will post a much more detailed plan in the next few days.

Ah, makes sense, since this site (vbulletin) was done in php... that's cool... I've spent most of my time in perl, but have dablled in php... I'm eager to see this progress!
